Middlethorpe Hall, York, is a William III country house, close to the city set in 20 acres of its own gardens and parkland. B ... uilt in 1699, it was once home of the famous diarist, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. After a period of neglect, the hall was sympathetically restored by Historic House Hotels Ltd. with decoration, antiques and fine pictures chosen as consistent with the period of the house. The hall was donated to the National Trust in 2008. Middlethorpe Hall has 29 fully equipped bedrooms and suites, each decorated individually, which are located in the historic hall and the attractively decorated 18th century courtyard adjacent to it. The panelled dining rooms overlooking the gardens, and the imaginative food, follows the hotel's theme of traditional excellence. There are rooms available for private luncheon and dinner parties. The Health & Fitness Spa provides a large swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna, club room and gymnasium. Situated on the first floor of the hall, the boardroom is perfect for smaller or confidential meetings up to 10 people. it overlooks the South lawn and has its own adjoining sitting room. Middlethorpe Hall is also the perfect backdrop for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies and celebration to create lasting memories of each precious moment of the day.
