Microcide was incorporated in 1990 with a primary objective to develop unique nontoxic and environmentally safe microbicidal ... products for personal care, public health, food and agriculture industries through research and development. A SBIR grant from the National Institute of Health Infectious Diseases Branch provided initial funding for this research. Both the NASA and the US Navy have selectedPRO-SAN products for sanitizing fruits and vegetables for the space missions and for use in the submarine fleet, respectively. Microcide has been an Affiliate Partner of the NASA Food Technology Commercial Space Center at Iowa State University; Ames, Iowa, U.S.A. Microcide was nominated for the Presidential award for Green Chemistry by the EPA in 2005. After years of research Microcide has uncovered hidden germ-killing properties of food additive ingredients. These are safe, non-toxic and biodegradable chemical agents most classified as GRAS, (Generally Regarded As Safe) and/or are considered safe as FOOD ADDITIVE by the FDA. The microbicidal products made with these ingredients can eliminate direct and indirect harmful effects caused by antimicrobial agents containing chlorine, chlorinated products, phenols, cresol, heavy metals, certain quaternary ammonium compounds, and other toxic chemical agents on health and environment. Major role of these patented products is to control both drug sensitive and resistant infectious and spoilage microorganisms. These products can help to maintain good health, wholesome food and clean and safe environment at an affordable cost. The USDA has certified our products for biobased content. We have been working with several faculties from various Universities (the Ohio State Univ., the Iowa State Univ., the Univ. of Michigan, the Florida A&M Florida, the Colorado State Univ. and the Oregon Health Sciences Univ.) to expand the horizon of safe and non-toxic Microcide products. read more
