The Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission (MCBHC) is a private, non-profit organization that assists persons with drug a ... nd alcohol, mental health, and intellectual disability needs through the administration, coordination, and delivery of a service system committed to improving the quality of life of those served. MCBHC’s Case Management Services provide needs assessments, service planning, linkage to community supports and resources, service coordination and monitoring for individuals. Case management services are voluntary. Service planning builds on the strengths of the individual with the overall goal of improving the client’s independence in daily living. The Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission, Inc. was originally incorporated by the Mercer County Board of Commissioners in 1979 to administer the county's Substance Abuse services and later to include Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities. As the initial point of contact for the three programs, the MCBHC provides administrative oversight, centralized program intake functions, case management services and prevention education programs. The privatization of state-mandated human services systems under the MCBHC is an innovative service delivery model in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Under the private-non-profit model, the MCBHC offers public programs of integrated intake and case management services for individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health needs or substance abuse issues. MCBHC also serves as the Single County Authority for Drug and Alcohol Program funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Prevention services and Student Assistance Program services are licensed to provide services in area schools. read more
