We provide housing and services throughout Metro Boston and the Greater Worcester Area. Mainstay was founded in 1975 under the name Mental Health Programs, Inc. (later MHPI, Inc.) to provide affordable, community-based housing to people with mental illness. In 1999, a service affiliate, Residential Support Services, Inc. (RSSI), was founded to provide care and services to our residents and others in the community. Our mandate has since expanded to cover a variety of vulnerable populations. In 2019, the companies were merged under the name Mainstay to reflect our integrated programs and approach to care. read more
