About LSO In 1971, the Liberty Symphony Orchestra was born in Liberty, Missouri, through the efforts of its founding conductor, Dr. Phillip C. Posey, and the assistance of William Jewell College. Each year, the Symphony presents a series of four regular concerts and an educational concert for area youth. Originally a small college and community orchestra, the Liberty Symphony has grown into a mature symphonic ensemble with complete instrumentation and a growing command of the world's great literature.
