Liaise Loddon's people are making a real difference to people whose lives are affected by severe autism. Every day, our extra ... ordinary colleagues change the world in small but significant ways. We give the people we support the power to take as much control as they can and live happy, fulfilling lives. We provide safe, stimulating homes for people with severe learning disabilities related to autism. Their behaviour is often very challenging and many of our service users have epilepsy, physical disabilities and complex mental health problems. They struggle to access the communities we all take for granted. But we know their disabilities don't define them; the people we support are unique and they all have great qualities. With our help, they can achieve so much more than might be expected and make choices in their lives. Our approach to care and support puts the person, not the disability, at the centre of what we do. Everything we do starts with the individual. This proactive approach comes from the PROACT-SCIPr-UK(r) philosophy, developed by our CEO Marion Cornick. We work with the people we support to understand their behaviour. We know that most challenging behaviour comes from frustration. If someone can't communicate their wants and needs verbally, and the people around can't understand their body language, they become frustrated. So we work to identify distress early and respond positively. And then we only ever use physical interventions rarely when it's essential to keep everyone safe. The people we support build long-term, trusting relationships with our colleagues. Would you like to join the team? Find out more at www.liaise.co.uk/work-with-us/. read more
