Lewes Coronavirus Volunteers was set up by Emma Amies a town planner in March 2020 to help the community through the Covid 19 ... pandemic. It aims to support local residents and businesses through the pandemic and beyond. Over 650 volunteers deliver food and prescriptions to those needing to isolate. A foodbank has been created at TRINITY Church and this foodbank also supports the other 3 food banks in Lewes. Care for carers packages include the provision of pamper kits for local NHS staff and Care home staff, supporting the sewing of masks, headbands and scrubs and Food to go parcels for carers. The aim is to support businesses through and beyond the pandemic. The plan is to continue being a volunteer organisation after the pandemic. This will provide a useful resource for the community and can help in the aftermath of covid, with general support for the town and with disasters such as floods. Donations to support the work of the group can be made on the website. read more
