Established in 1950, Legal Aid has nine offices statewide, and over 80 staff members (attorneys, paralegals, and administrative personnel) all dedicated to achieving Legal Aid’s vision of “Building a Just Society.” Legal Aid provides free legal services to those who qualify. Legal areas include: Family Law, Public Benefits, Consumer Law, Fair Housing, Housing Law, Foreclosure Counseling, Tax Preparation, etc.. Legal Aid does NOT handle Criminal Law issues. Legal Aid also includes the Hawaii Immigrant Justice Center at Legal Aid (HIJC), serving the immigrant population with their legal needs.
