The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is celebrating 16 years of hard work, paddling, camaraderie and dedication to raising ... funds for area charitable and worthy organizations. Registration for the 2017 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is now open, and we’re calling…. well everyone! That’s right—from first-time paddlers to seasoned racers, everyone is welcome. It’s easy to register a team, and you don’t need any experience to join in on the fun — in fact, we like to think there’s a dragon boater in all of us! Each team consists of a maximum of 25 people: 20 paddlers (eight must be women), a drummer, a steersperson, a manager and two alternates. Registration is $900 per team — that’s just $36 per person! Paddlers must be at least 14 years of age, but there are plenty of other ways youngsters can get involved through volunteering and festival events! Why we paddle: -To raise money for Twin Ports Rotary Clubs and their charitable giving. -To raise funds for the festival’s charitable partner, the Essentia Health Foundation. -To provide a free, fun, family event. read more
