Kaye Academic College of Education was founded in 1954 in Beer Sheva. The establishment of the college laid the foundations o ... f the education system in the Negev. The college expanded and developed rapidly, and is training teachers – including new immigrant teachers and teachers in the Bedouin sector – for most teaching tracks. In 1994, Kaye College was granted academic status, and was thereby entitled to confer a B.Ed. degree. Since 2007 Kaye College is entitled to confer M.Ed. degree as well. The teacher education programs at Kaye Academic College of Education are among the best in Israel, and are on a par with leading teaching programs in other parts of the world. At the present time, there are approximately 3,000 Jewish and Bedouin students studying in various tracks. The college also offers a variety of study programs for different populations in the whole Negev area. The college aims at providing both advanced professional knowledge, and broad practical experience and skills, so that students and graduates can play an active role in the dynamic future of the education system in Israel. All of this takes place in an environment that is caring and supportive and takes the students' needs into consideration. Kaye College is known for the support system and assistance that it offers its students. Its "open door policy" enables every student to approach any faculty member or administrative person, from the dean's office to the office of the president of the college. In addition to attempting to improve the status of the teacher in Israel, the college contributes to educational activities in the Southern region and conducts many projects in the Jewish and the Bedouin sectors in conjunction with other bodies. read more
