Expansion into the coverage of regional hospitals in 1985 created an opportunity to provide services in institutions with widely varying emergency department patient volumes & resources. This expansion also provided the opportunity for KEA physicians to participate in a variety of clinical & administrative activities. KEA was involved in the development & subsequent operation of an accredited emergency medicine residency program in Kalamazoo. This program provides many opportunities for our physicians to be involved in academic emergency medicine & is a valued source of well trained emergency physicians for southwestern Michigan. KEA physicians are active participants in EMS activities with leadership roles in local & regional medical control authorities as well as EMS medical direction and education. We actively recruit from a variety of resources, provide centralized physician scheduling for all sites, physician backup capability for vacations & illnesses, & coordinate a variety of physician employee benefits for each of our physicians.
