We’re a community cooperative set up to support the rehearsal, performance, promotion & development of jazz, poetry, dance & ... related arts. We’re the first cooperative in the UK to own a music venue and education centre – at the Globe in Newcastle upon Tyne. We put on gigs and courses there and at other venues. Jazz.Coop wants to develop a wider appreciation of jazz and more opportunities for jazz musicians. We support live jazz, poetry, dance and related arts in various ways. We own the Globe bar and music venue in Newcastle (NE4 7AD) which hosts a wide range of gigs and other events as well as various jazz and dance education workshops and courses. The Globe is also available for rehearsals and jam sessions. We arrange and promote gigs at other venues too; regularly at Empty Shop HQ, and occasionally at other venues. We also run monthly jazz education workshops at Sage Gateshead. We are well networked with arts and community organisations at local, regional and national levels and are always happy to discuss opportunities for co-operation. read more
