Founded in 1984 the IOV has now been around for 37 years. As such it has the longevity of an established member organisation. ... The majority of our members are small independent companies operating across sectors or in some cases specialising in a particular niche. Typical specialities include events and celebrations, including weddings, corporate productions, theatrical and music events, promotional videos and coverage of community activities of all kinds. As an Institute a strong orientation towards professionalism and mission to spread knowledge are central to our identity. One example of this is our work to develop a full curriculum called VideoSkills – the Core Competencies of Videography. Our accredited members across the UK are committed to the highest standards in the craft of video production. We expect them to have an expert level of technical knowledge and skill in respect of cameracraft, and post-production more broadly. We also expect them to be people who communicate well with their clients and do all possible to meet and wherever possible exceed their expectations. This implies both business awareness and people skills. We have a valued and long-established Arbitration Service. On the rare occasions that it is required, we will formally examine any disputes between members or clients and work impartially towards an acceptable outcome for all concerned. read more
