Icesaving is an association of 250 members aimed at getting back the deposits that those 250 deposited at an Icesave Account ... at Landsbanki in Reykjavik. The total amount the members still have to receive is 25 million Euro. Despite the report on the Special Investigation Committee of the Icelandic Parliament the Icelandic government is not willing to settle the case. The report stated that the Icelandic supervisor (FME), the Central Bank as well as the government were well aware of the risks of the Icesave business and could have prevented the negative effects for the savers. We also lodged a claim at the Surveillance Authority of the EFTA (European Free Trade Association) on the discrimination of the Dutch savers against the Icelandic ones. The Icelandic savers got all their money back, the Dutch didn't, which is against the basic European rule of non-discrimination between European citizens/consumers.
