The hotel and conference center is the largest full service facility in Greene County and the largest hotel ballroom in a three county area. Wright Patterson Air Force Base has the distinction of being the only military base with a privately owned and operated commercial hotel. Approval for this project was obtained through an act of Congress. While being an experimental project for the government, the Hope Hotel & Conference Center has experienced tremendous success and continues to exceed all expectations. The hotel opened its doors in June of 1990 and was named in honor of legendary troop entertainer, Mr. Bob Hope. The restaurant was named for his brief boxing career when he was known as Packy East. Mr. Hope's family also honored us in 2002 by staying at our facility when the National Museum of the United States Air Force opened the Bob Hope exhibit. The Hope Hotel is honored to be a part of history and a “place for peace” in hosting the 1995 Proximity Peace Talks. On November 1, 1995, negotiations between presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia commenced here. The peace agreement was initialed November 21, 1995 after three weeks of intense mediation in ending the four-year war in the Balkans. We have continued our involvement by hosting the Peace Prize in 2000 and 2005, honoring President Bill Clinton and Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, respectively. read more
