Holdfast Model Aero Club (HMAC) consists of a passionate and active community of 120 aeromodellers who enjoy high quality fac ... ilities and a unique flying experience at our impressive, well maintained flying field located 20 kilometres south west of the city of Adelaide in South Australia. The flying field is unique due to its prime location within the southern suburbs of Adelaide and also being located adjacent to a main highway, which provides the club with excellent exposure to the general public and the wider community. Newcomers to aeromodelling are catered for and supported every Sunday morning (weather permitting) from 10:00am to 12:00pm, when our friendly and highly qualified model aircraft flight instructors teach all the theoretical and practical aspects required for the safe and enjoyable operation of a model aircraft. During the training period, no other models are allowed to fly, ensuring that safety is maximised and student distraction is minimised. Apart from Sunday mornings, the field is available to HMAC members for general flying from 10:00am to 7:00pm every day of the week. Since noise generated at the flying field can propagate to nearby suburbs under certain conditions, HMAC imposes a 96 dB noise limit. However, unpowered gliders and electric aircraft are permitted to fly at any time due to their minimal noise output. Not only does HMAC offer an unparalleled flying experience to it's members, it also offers a vibrant community culture with numerous opportunities to be involved in club events and initiatives. Committee meetings are held frequently, either locally in the clubroom at the flying field or remotely via online team collaboration tools. General meetings are also held on a regular basis, and usually consist of a guest speaker who'll discuss an interesting topic relating to aeromodelling or aviation.
