Back in 1961, did Walter Herrmann, a trained high-frequency technician, perhaps suspect what a triumph ultrasonic welding would one day enjoy? His first business idea is to replace the fault-prone tube generators for ultrasonic cleaning systems with high-performance generators. Quickly, however, he recognized the potential of the technology while it was still in its infancy. In only 10 years, he went from cleaning to welding. Today, Herrmann is an internationally established, medium-sized family company, operating with more than 500 employees from 4 headquarters, and is represented globally by over 20 Tech-Centers. The first field of business, PLASTICS, is followed 20 years later by PACKAGING, and then in the 90s by NONWOVENS. Since 2018, METALS has been the company’s fourth mainstay. Almost six decades of pioneering work have culminated in the development of the first sound-insulated welding machine, the first means of visualizing the weld process on an integrated monitor, the first fully digital generator, and the HiQ machine series.
