The governing body of the on- and off-campus graduate and professional students, the GPSS works to improve campus life, schol ... arly development, and community for its constituency. Working to improve campus life, scholarly development, and community for our constituency, the GPSS serves as the liaison between graduate students and University Administration. Delegates to the Graduate and Professional Student Senate do this by serving on a variety of University commissions and committees. Members of the Virginia Tech GPSS Executive Board also participate in regular meetings with administration, and serve on committees and commissions. The executive boards of our sister organizations, the Roanoke GSA and the Greater DC Metro Area GSA work with us, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the graduate and professional students on the campuses in those areas as well as in Blacksburg. In addition, the GPSS administers programs to directly promote graduate research and educational efforts, and hosts the annual Research Symposium, which offers scholarships to the best of the exceptional research presenters participating in the event. read more
