The Global Biking Initiative (GBI) is a fast-growing, worldwide cycling community with the mission to raise fund for charitie ... s in more than twenty countries. Multiple cycling events take place during the year, where the main event is the GBI Europe Tour, attended by several hundred participants from all over the world and during which we cross multiple countries over the period of one week. The funds raised by the Global Biking Initiative community in 2017 total up to: € 3.265.355 The GBI community is organized in local GBI entities. Every GBI country has its own GBI Country Champion, who leads the local organization. These local communities organize fund raising activities and cycling events. We work closely with the local supported charities and we make sure that the raised funds are invested in the best way. Every year we organize several charity events which focus on cycling. The annual GBI Europe tour is our most important week-long event, during which we cover several hundred kilometers by two different routes of varying distance. We ride in teams of ten, and both routes meet at the GBI Village at the end of the day so that we can exchange impressions over one or two drinks and dinner. In the past, up to four hundred participants have followed routes such as Oslo-Düsseldorf, Prague-Düsseldorf, Budapest-Munich and Milan-Düsseldorf. Since 2008, more than 2,000 cyclists participated in GBI events, crossing sixteen countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. So far, we have raised more than 3.2 Million Euro for charities in twenty three countries. We typically raise between 150,000 and 250,000 Euros per year that is donated to charity organizations in the participating countries. read more
