We are an award-winning design studio with national and international reach. Underpinning our practice is an approach rooted ... in the constant exploration of ideas about how buildings and cities are made built and how they can improve the lives of individuals and communities. In keeping to these core principles, we have secured a reputation for delivering high quality buildings across all sectors and masterplans which have transformed large parts of UK’s largest cities. We are fortunate to work with creative people who share our vision. We have built long-lasting and trusting relationships with our team, clients and collaborators. These relationships have allowed us to push boundaries to develop transformational and bespoke design solutions. The practice was founded by Glenn Howells in 1990, with the idea of working on exciting projects for like-minded clients. Our first breaks were being invited to work on the Custard Factory in Birmingham and in winning the competition to design Hereford Theatre – both of which we are now revisiting and remodelling. Since then we have grown steadily and won some remarkable commissions. We are now fortunate to be working on projects of all sizes and types that are pushing us to explore and stretch ourselves. In Birmingham, we are in our own building in the heart of Digbeth which has given us the freedom to experiment with full size mock-ups and models at all scales. In London we have an office in Fitzrovia, which put us near the wider architectural community and close to many of our collaborators and clients. We work throughout the UK in sectors including residential, masterplaning, office, culture, education, retail, health and leisure. Our projects have won a diverse range of awards including the RIBA, British Council for Offices, Housing Design, RICS, Civic Trust, Concrete Society and Brick Awards. The Savill Building was shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2007. read more
