At GIPSIL, we’re committed to helping young people and families in the most disadvantaged communities in Leeds to develop and ... realise their potential through housing provision, advice services and well-being/counselling support. We are an originally grass-roots organisation that developed out of the Gipton community in 1992 and although we now work more city-wide, Gipton remains an important base for us with our main offices situated in the Old Fire Station (a building destined for demolition that we helped to save and transform into a community hub). We lead (and work with different partners) on a number of contracted services within Leeds. These include the new Our Way Leeds support and accommodation service for Young People in Leeds, Engage Leeds (an award-winning homelessness support provision that aims to integrate those at risk of homelessness within their communities), The Beck (which is our Community, Health and Prevention strand focusing on counselling and wellbeing for children/young people) and our social enterprise Elevate that carries out vital property maintenance along with volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities. We also run an Advice Service for both GIPSIL service users and communities across the city offering welfare and housing advice along with employment support. We strive to make sure our core values of Restorative Practice, Inclusion and Cohesion and Excellence permeate everything we do and reach all those we work with (including staff, the People We Support, our Partners and our community) and we continue to work for the benefit of the community. We continue to make sure our staff are supported to do their best, offering training pathways to progress through roles and 29 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays). read more
