GE Credit Union was established in 1940 when a group of General Electric employees pooled their money to start a small, but d ... edicated credit union called General Electric Conduit and Wire Credit Union. They made their newly formed credit union’s purpose to provide a safe and reliable place for General Electric’s Code Wire Department’s employees and their immediate family members to put their hard earned money. It was a success and by the end of the first year, they had 123 members—and things grew from there. By 1985, the Credit Union changed its name to General Electric Employees Federal Credit Union and by the end of that decade; they met their 15 thousand member mark with just over 22 million in assets. Finally, in 2014, our name was changed again—to what you know us as—GE Credit Union. Over the years, there have been lots of changes. But the original intent and drive behind the mission has remained the same. To provide a safe, reliable place for you to keep your hard earned money, that offers you the most benefits possible, and provides stellar member-focused service – all to help you achieve your financial dreams. read more
