Fort Worth & Western Railroad began in 1988, with the purchase of 6.25 miles of track through west Fort Worth from the former ... Burlington Northern Railroad. Push forward almost three decades later, and FWWR now runs over 276 miles of local track all the way from Carrollton to Brownwood, Texas. As a shortline railroad with competitive rates, FWWR concentrates on getting smaller shipments to the larger, Class 1 railroads such as Union Pacific, BNSF Railroad, Kansas City Southern and TXPF. FWWR breaks down into six sub-divisions: Fort Worth Hodge, Fort Worth Cottonbelt, Gorman, Cleburne, Everman and Dublin. FWWR interchanges with Union Pacific at Fort Worth and BNSF at Fort Worth and Brownwood, Texas. Through a “bridge connection”, FWWR also interchanges with Kansas City Southern (KCS) with BNSF at Fort Worth and Texas Pacifico (TXPF) at San Angelo Junction.
