Florida’s News Channel (FNC) was a regional cable news network available on Florida’s cable television systems (e.g. Comcast, ... GTE, TCI Cable, AT&T Broadband, and Continental Cablevision) that operated from 1998 to 2003. FNC’s viewers were the first to see virtual reality news environments with customized local scenery in each of Florida’s seven major television markets. The network was deployed on the first Video over ATM network with reach direct into the cable head-ends within each market and was the first of its kind in the United States. The network was deployed with the ForeSystems ASX-200BX ATM switch platform and video transport handled via the Tektronics M2T300 video multiplexer system. FNC soon followed with the deployment of a regional H.323 VoIP and data network to supplement their local news operation. read more
