Founded on 12 May 1981, Flor da Moda – Confecções, S.A. started out as a small family clothing manufacturer focusing on the p ... roduction of women´s garments. In its early days, the company chose the areas bordering its region of activity as its market. This market soon expanded and production targets multiplied accordingly. In 1987 the company partipicated in the PORTEX International Trade Fair, which gave rise to the first international contacts. Flor da Moda then began taking part in other trade fairs in the sector, creating an area of activity clearly geared to exports. Nordic countries including Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, as well as Austria, Holland, England, France, Spain, South America and several countries in the Middle East quickly proved to be the markets of choice for conducting business. This rapid expansion was largely a result of the degree of specialisation the company attempted to instill in the production of women´s clothing and the considerable efforts made to implement the technological means available to the workforce, thereby boosting productivity rates. Another decisive factor was the recruitment of specialist human resources for the different sectors of the core business, in addition to the creation of a fashion design and modelling department to ascertain the most noteworthy domestic and international trends for each season. These improvements led to the company specialising in a series of diverse solutions for all kinds of situations, from the most laid-back and casual wear to the the most striking or glamorous/chic.
