Founded in 1953 by then “junior college” faculty members, the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges has provid ... ed community college faculty with a focused voice in government for nearly six decades. From its initial inception in Long Beach as the California Junior College Faculty Council (CJCFC), community college faculty have succeeded in maintaining FACCC as a professional membership association looking out solely for its one constituency. When Proposition 13 transferred the bulk of community college funding decisions from local trustees to Sacramento, FACCC moved with it. In 2001, FACCC purchased its own building on 11th Street, between “R” and “S,” a few steps away from the State Chancellor’s Office and only four blocks from the Capitol.
