At over 200 acres, our impressive gardens (created and managed by the Rothschild family) border the Beaulieu River and boast a narrow-gauge steam railway, plus a newly refurbished restaurant and an outdoor cafe. Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway is a charitable company registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (registration number 801349). Charity mission: - maintain, improve, develop and preserve the gardens for the public benefit. - open the gardens to the public. - advance horticultural science, knowledge and learning for the public benefit. We currently maintain an ongoing propagation and development programme for the gardens and have also established a detailed database of the plants held including the National Collection of Nyssa and Oxydendrum.
