The EYP encourages independent thinking and socio-political initiative in young people and facilitates the learning of crucial social and professional skills. The EYP engages about 20.000 youngsters every year. Its 120 events each year are run by young volunteers in 40 European countries. European Youth Parliament (EYP) Greece is a non-profit organization that founded in 1994 in Thessaloniki. EYP Greece numbers 140 members which come from Northern, as well as Southern and Central areas in Greece. EYP Greece organizes 2 3- Day National Selection Conferences per year, one in Thessaloniki and one in Athens, which gather participants from all over Greece. During these sessions, students go through activities of team-building, committee work and general assembly. One of the aims of each National Selection Conference is to select 8 students that will represent Greece in the activities of EYP International. The academic, political, social and emotional implications that students experience by participating at this non formal educational program are guaranteed to enhance their education and personal maturation to a very gratifying extent.
