“Great markets for art have always been in diverse and sophisticated urban centers that offer a depth and authenticity of exp ... erience—history, culture, and excitement.” --Benjamin Genocchio, Executive Director of the NY Armory Show ESSEX STUDIOS, situated in urban Cincinnati’s Walnut Hills district, creates just such a diverse market for art with its quarterly ArtWalks, which welcome the public to visit a vast variety of studios of artists and other creatives. Four times a year, the Essex Studios ArtWalk welcomes the public to explore studios and meet the artists, check out guest artists’ work in the hallways, and sample tasty fares from participating food trucks. The studios began in 2000 when owner Trent Heimann converted the building into workspaces for artists and other creative types. The building now houses over 100 studios of artists working in every medium. Among the offerings are art, jewelry, ceramics, photography, painting, pastel, custom woodworking, African sculpture carving, a Cat Museum, a printing company, martial arts, an actors’ studio, and a massage parlor.
