Starting in 1849, Emmanuel (then the Reformed Church) began its service to God. Men, women and children would gather in a one ... -room schoolhouse to worship Jesus Christ. Throughout the years, there has been a great deal of growth at Emmanuel. Membership has grown, the church building has been expanded and lives have been changed spiritually. Every Sunday, members continue to gather to worship the Lord Almighty. “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). We gather to give God praise and thanksgiving. We come to affirm our mission through the Statement of Purpose, which was adopted in 1993: “We the people of Emmanuel come together to serve the Lord, the community, and support each other. We unite in spirit to spread the Gospel to others, to witness and worship the Lord, and to acknowledge our own personal relationship with the Lord. We will endeavor to pass this relationship with God and His people to our children.” Emmanuel’s ministries include supporting local families in need with our food pantry & monetary gifts, the Mission Team reaching out to the community & World Vision, Youth Group trips to Butler, PA to repair homes, supporting Phoebe Homes, Lancaster Theological Seminary, & Bethany’s Children’s home; the CROP Walk, our mission trip to Honduras, and so much more. We are an active church in the life of Christ. Everyone in Emmanuel’s family are hard-working people ~ moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, youth and children. Every one of them are special gifts from God and they work hard to serve the Lord. We encourage you to use this website in many ways. This website is a tool for each of us. We pray that it opens our eyes to everyone in our church family. Let us continue to spiritually grow and glorify Jesus Christ. Grace and Peace. read more
