Edinburgh University Romanian Society (E.U. RoSoc) is a EUSA registered society and it was founded in 2007 by a small group o ... f Romanian students Ana-Elena Sotropa, Eduard Andrei Ciocanescu, Raluca Voinica, Vlad Constantin Dorunga and Laurentiu Prodan. It was a time when the number of Romanian students in Edinburgh was not very large and the main purpose of the activities was to promote and improve the image of Romania to foreigners. We had approximately 90 registered members in 2012 and there were more than 150 Romanian Students in Edinburgh as of 2012. Our events are open to all society members and non-members, visitors and the curious are welcomed! The languages used will be English and Romanian (but translation will be provided where needed), thus supporting our goal of making the above mentioned known to Britain's inhabitants, raising awareness of different activities and facilitating the connection between people mainly involved in academia. Although the description/ motto of the society has changed to: "Sharing the Romanian culture among Edinburgh Students", it still represents the main ideals as before “The society was made for everyone interested in Romania, Romanian culture and language regardless of the country of origin or other affiliations”. read more
