Effective Diabetes Education Now! (EDEN) is an NHS run programme that was set up in 2012 to address a skill gap in diabetes k ... nowledge in primary care. EDEN provides healthcare professionals with essential training and knowledge in order to treat and in some cases prevent diabetes in patients. EDEN benefits: commissioning groups, patients and HCPs by ensuring the latest research in educating each group about diabetes. EDEN offers several core modules based on the latest research, these modules are designed in order to tackle diabetes in the most effective manner. The modules offered include: *Foot care - A one day course that uses practical workshops to educate healthcare professionals on screening, preventing and and managing foot problems caused by diabetes. The practical workshop also includes: how to examine and assess feet for screening purposes, risk assessment for peripheral vascular disease and peripheral sensory neuropathy. *Three Treatment Targets (NEW) - This module has been developed as DATA from NHS England and NDA has highlighted the percentage of patients not meeting the recommended targets with the nine care processes, which are part of their diabetes annual review. Blood pressure, cholesterol and HbAc1 levels have collectively formed three enhancement targets and have been recommended as a priority focus for CCG'S to improve outcomes. Enhance the patient knowledge and skills of HCPs in the management of blood pressure, cholesterol and HbAc1 for patients with diabetes. The study includes the latest national guidelines and evidence base in respect of treatment options and recommendations for application into clinical work.
