What do people/organizations notice when engineering is not thorough, or not mindful? The budget goes over, and the scheduled completion comes and goes as well. Engineering that’s done with only the immediate capital cost in mind—as cheaply and as quickly as possible—will cause companies to spend that money twice or three times to get it right. Problems crop up a year later, or an issue appears again in another incarnation because it was only ever patched, and never properly solved. We see that all the time.
