DFMS (the Drought and Flood Mitigation Service) is a a suite of information products that will allow decision-makers in Ugand ... a to mitigate the impacts of droughts and floods and take better-informed agricultural, environmental, and water management decisions. DFMS is provided as an on-line service, so all you need is an Internet-connected device like a PC, laptop, tablet, or even a smart phone. Once you are logged on to DFMS, depending on your subscription, you are able to access the many information products and create your own dashboard with the products and for the geographical areas you are interested in. DFMS contains: # Weather and Hydrological Forecasts for the next 2, 7, and 90 days # Satellite Observation-based products like Normalised Difference Vegetation Index; Soil Moisture; Burned Area Index; Land Surface Temperature; Water Extent; and Water Height # Historical and Future Climatology (precipitation and temperature) # A dedicated Land Cover Classification for the Karamoja region based on 2017 data Additional products will be included such as evapotranspiration, crop yield and livestock body condition datasets, season onset forecasts, and probabilities of drought and flood. DFMS is developed in cooperation with the Government of Uganda, led by the Ministry of Water and Environment, and financially supported by the UK Space Agency's International Partnership Programme. DFMS is realised by a consortium of UK organisations, led by the RHEA Group, and includes the UK Met Office, HR Wallingford, Pixalytics, Environment Systems, AgriTechTalk International, and Databasix.
