The aim of the Dariu Foundation (TDF) is to provide education to underprivileged children in developing countries. In order t ... o achieve this, the foundation promotes microfinance services and ensures access to basic education by granting scholarships, building kindergartens and providing mobile schools. For the past ten years, TDF has been supporting disadvantaged families in the south of Vietnam and now is planning to expand its activities into Myanmar. The foundation’s activities aim to improve the financial situation of impoverished families by enabling them to build sustainable businesses. The foundation achieves this goal by using a simple yet effective investment model. Children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds are given scholarships, which enable them to attend local schools. In addition to this, each student's parents can claim a small loan from the foundation to start building their own business. Only clients who continue to send their children to school are eligible to apply for the loan. At the same time, TDF, together with local authorities, builds kindergartens in the regions in which the microloans are granted. These kindergartens fulfill various purposes; they establish a safe and practical infrastructure and provide all-day care for the children. This, in turn, enables both parents to work full time.
