The Society is authorised by Her Majesty's Treasury and is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. The Society was registered under the Friendly Societies Act in 1976. It holds conferences, scientific meetings, social events and other activities in support of the science and practice of cybernetics. The Society awards grades of membership which entitles its Members and Fellows to use MCybS and FCybS as post-nominal qualifications. The Society's official journal is Kybernetes - The International Journal of Cybernetics, Systems and Management Sciences.
