Colégio Tropical (CTROP) is a newly created unit from the University of Lisbon, dedicated to integrate knowledge from differe ... nt research domains and use it tackle tropical challenges and foster education. With over 100 members, CTROP aims to develop a transdisciplinary strategy at the University, with a view to solving societal challenges in tropical regions, reinforcing its role in scientific diplomacy. In accordance with the Structuring Principles of Agenda 2030/17 and the Sustainable Development Goals, CTROP prioritizes research, education, extension and cooperation, in conjunction with innovation and technology transfer, to promote development in tropical regions. Aims: • Contributing to reflection of the real problems or constraints that strangle the development of tropical countries, taking into account the structuring principles of the 2030 Agenda, based on the 17 SDGs; • Developing a transdisciplinary approach aimed at consolidating scientific excellence and capitalising on the cultural and scientific heritage and tropical knowledge at ULisboa; • Develop and implement research for development (R4D) programmes; • Boosting advanced training in tropical research and the mobility strategies of students, teachers and researchers; • Building bridges simultaneously between research and extension, natural sciences/technologies and social sciences, South and North, promoting cooperation and facilitating access to international funds for technology transfer and clean development; • Contribute to the resolution of global problems in tropical regions through scientific-technical knowledge and its co-creation within the framework of cooperation between organisations from the South and the North; • Projecting ULisboa as a key player in R4D at European and Global levels, namely in Europe-Africa relations, building partnerships and mechanisms for its implementation. read more
