The Cruickshank story began in 1956, when Les Cruickshank helped to build the St. Lawrence Seaway, considered one of the most outstanding engineering feats of the 20th century. Once the Seaway was completed, Les took advantage of the economic boom of the times to build a career in road construction. Over the years, he added quarry and asphalt operations, allowing Cruickshank to become a full-service road building company. Today, Cruickshank still builds roads – but we also build bridges, maintain highways, provide aggregate materials, provide infrastructure services and help to protect our fragile shorelines.
