Confey College is a co-educational post primary school in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. The school is operated under the auspices of ... the Kildare VEC. THE BUILDING AND GROWTH OF THE SCHOOL The school began back in September 1986 with just 36 students and using classrooms in Scoil San Carlo (N. S.), with three fulltime staff, Ms. P. Traynor, Ms. A, McKenna and Mr. J. Houlihan., Sr. Camilla as Chaplin and Mr. R. Boland on a part-time basis from Colaiste Chiarain. The Department of Education had given a commitment to build a school but no site was available. Despite this fact a further 76 students enrolled in September 1987. For September/October 1987 students were educated on a part-time basis with 2nd years in the morning and 1st years in the afternoon, 2nd years returning again! when the national school children had finished for the day. After much political wrangling and pressure, the present site was allocated by the Department of Education. The school received its first set of prefabs (second hand from Riversdale Community School) after the mid-term break (Oct.87). The classrooms had been standing separately but were linked together for added comfort - eight in all, they duly formed a H and became known as 'H Block'. The staff increased as well in 1987 with the arrival of Mr. Travers as Vice Principal, Ms M. O' Beachain, Ms I Farrell and Ms D. English. read more
