Concordia has a rich history of serving families in the South Puget Sound area for over one hundred years. The school traces ... its roots to 1899 where it began as Zion Lutheran School in North Tacoma and was operated by that congregation for 40 years. In 1939, the Concordia Lutheran School Association was formed by three churches, and Concordia Lutheran School began serving families in the Parkland area across from Pacific Lutheran University. In 1948, Concordia moved to its current campus at East 56th and B Street on a seven-acre site which now consists of four separate buildings. In 2003, our partner school Mount Rainier Lutheran High opened its doors thereby completing the Pre-K through 12th grade educational experience. Today, Concordia is operated by seven congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and serves nearly 200 children. Concordia Lutheran School’s seven-acre Tacoma campus is comprised of four buildings; three of them house our office, administration, library, art room, lunchroom, band and choir room, drama room, music room, science room, classes Preschool through Grade 8, and gymnasium; one is our state-licensed daycare, The Early Learning and Childcare Center. read more
