In the 1950s and 1960s, the grounds of Chateau Impney hosted a series of speed trials attracting thousands of spectators, who would line the hotel's drive to take in the excitement and see some of the best drivers and cars of the era strive to set the fastest time of the day. Almost 50 years since cars last competed at the Chateau, the speed trials were reborn as the Chateau Impney Hill Climb in July 2015, building upon the venue’s impressive motorsport heritage and breathtaking setting. The inaugural hill climb was praised by competitors and spectators alike, with over 10,000 fans and 200 competitors turning out for the new meet. Now an annual event, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb will return on 13-14 July 2019.
