Since its inception in 1939, the League has grown to an organizational size of 85 active members and 130+ Sustaining and Life Members—all of whom commit to active service and contribute volunteer hours that collectively account for more than 13,000 hours per year. All operational costs are covered by annual member dues, so 100% of event proceeds and contributions are put directly back into the community. The League’s role as a critical labor force cannot go without mention. The members have an amazing capacity to rally behind a cause, organize resources and provide hands-on skills to local nonprofits, whose missions align with the mission of the Service League. Without the woman-power provided by League members, these organizations—who have insightful ideas and a desire to impact the community—may not be able to contribute as much to the community.
