The Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Human Rights (DH-CII) is a sub-unit of the Law School of the University of Minho. I ... t gathers professionals from different legal disciplines (Constitutional Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Administrative Law, Comparative Law, etc.), political scientists, anthropologists, sociologists, philosophers and journalists. Over the years it has developed interdisciplinary research in the fields of Democracy and State-Building, Migration and Citizenship, Minority Rights, Privacy and the Digital Environment, Criminal Law, Bioethics, the Rights of the Child, etc. Its activities include fundamental and applied research; cooperation with state authorities and international organisations in drafting legislative projects and by providing legal opinions and comparative studies; organisation of scientific events and support for its members’ participation in scientific events in Portugal and abroad; participation in educational projects in Portugal and in several Lusophone countries; publication of edited volumes and conference proceedings; dissemination events open to the general public and in cooperation with civil society organisations. At the moment, the Centre is being submitted to a process of fusion with other Research Centre also part of the School of Law - CEDU (Centre for Legal Studies for the EU) - culminating in JUSGOV (Research Centre for Justice and Governance). JusGov is dedicated to advance research and scholarship in Law, by pursuing an innovative interdisciplinary research programme, engaging in international research networks, investing in a strong dissemination strategy, providing policy relevant research and legal expertise of interest to governments, practitioners and other stakeholders, and by contributing to the scientific initiation and advanced training of early stage researchers. read more
