Additionally, the Center is committed to increasing representation and retention of underrepresented students in the biomedical research workforce. Our Center is unique in that we apply a rigorous, antiracist, research-driven, evidence-based, and culturally competent approach to accomplish these goals. Increasing both the diversity of the clinical investigator workforce and the research success of URM investigators is a national priority and of utmost importance to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). Thus, we have established the Center for Scientific Diversity (CSD) to foster, develop, and assess empirically-supported practices that promote and enhance scientific innovation, diversity, and equitable advancement within the biomedical investigator workforce. CSD is made up of a multidisciplinary team of scientific investigators and innovators committed to diversity and inclusion from various departments across ISMMS with expertise in biostatistics, behavioral psychology, neuropsychology, basic science, medicine, neuroscience, and health disparities research.
