The face of a traumatized child at the end of a thousand-mile journey. These are the faces we meet at Cayuga Centers. These are the children, families, and individuals we serve. Cayuga Centers exists to help children and individuals grow as independent, healthy citizens through therapeutic programs including foster care, community-based interventions, and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The agency has earned national recognition for implementing evidence-based treatment programs that successfully address youth and family life issues. In recent years, Cayuga Centers has stepped up to support children who have crossed the Southern US border unaccompanied by their parents. While we work to reunite them with a parent or guardian, we give them psychological, medical, and educational support. The children stay in a loving, Spanish-speaking foster home during this transitional period. As of the first quarter of 2019, the average length of stay on discharge was 29 days: a figure we are working to reduce. As a nonprofit with over 150 years of caring for children and families, we always put their needs first.
