Since 1990, we've worked hard to improve support, s ... ervices and recognition for Gateshead residents living with the challenge of caring, unpaid, for someone who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. As a network partner of the national Carers Trust, we're part of the largest independent organisation supporting carers in the UK. Our vision is simple. We want to see a better life for carers. Our mission is to support carers to have a life alongside caring. We do this through services that enable carers to continue their caring role whilst having a life of their own and maintaining their own wellbeing. We provide a range of flexible, individualised services to both adult and young carers. This includes: - a specialist Young Carer Service for children and young people age 5-17, providing Young Carer Needs Assessments, social opportunities, skills-based workshops, school drop-ins, emotional support, wellbeing resources and individual grants. - Carer Relief Services that enable carers to have a break as one of our Carer Support Workers takes over their role. Services are arranged around individual need and can be for a few hours, a whole day, overnight or longer.
