In addition to market constraints, the logistics and delivery of crude oil from the Canadian shale plays such as the Duvernay, Montney, Bakken and Horn River continue to be a challenging issue and navigating through the market has become increasingly complex. Canadian transportation currently lacks the sustainable rail infrastructure, storage points, and transloading facilities required to support the ever-increasing volumes. According to Statistics Canada, the volume of oil on Canada's railroads has soared by 64.6 per cent in just the past year.
