The CAE in Cybersecurity Community connects all Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) designated by the National Security Agen ... cy and the Department of Homeland Security in the United States. CAEs are academic institutions and programs that have undergone an in-depth assessment and have met the rigorous requirements to receive the designation. The designation is valid for five academic years, after which the school must successfully reapply in order to retain its CAE designation. Students attending CAE-CDE and CAE-R schools are eligible to apply for scholarships and grants through the Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship Program. Students attending CAE-CD or CAE-CO schools are also eligible to apply for the Federal Cyber Service Scholarship for Service Program. Students that complete the approved program of study will receive explicit recognition to add to their personal credentials. CAE institutions receive formal recognition from the U.S. Government as well as opportunities for prestige and publicity for their role in supporting our Nation's information systems.
