Burgess Pet Care is an independent family-run business based in Yorkshire, England. Our passion, commitment and expertise ove ... r the generations has led to where we are now. We are one of the UK’s leading animal food manufacturers, catering for the country’s most popular animals – dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, rats and ferrets. British family company Starting out as flour millers in the 17th century in North Yorkshire, the Burgess family moved into producing wholesome farm animal feeds in the early 1960’s initially at Victory Mill in Thornton-le-Dale on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. In the 1980’s we focused on small animal food at Cherry Tree Mill in East Yorkshire. We remain family owned and independent. Our brands Our Burgess Excel range caters for the nation's favourite small animals and is recommended by 92% of UK vets. Catering for the nation’s felines is Burgess Cat, which includes a specialised neutered cat food. Burgess Sensitive caters for the specialist needs of dogs with sensitive stomachs and skin, providing them with all the essential nutrients without the ingredients that can cause irritation. Burgess Supadog is specially formulated for all breeds of dog, with products designed for greyhounds and lurchers and active, working dogs. In 2018 Burgess joined forces with one of the nation’s most famous dog lovers, Paul O’Grady. Together we launched a new range of dog foods, including a No Nasties and Hypoallergenic range. Promoting animal welfare and responsible ownership We are dedicated to improving the health and welfare of animals through research and education. Research by the University of Edinburgh, supported by Burgess Pet Care, found that feeding rabbits a muesli style diet may increase the risk of several health problems including dental disease and obesity. We stopped producing muesli style diets in 2014 and we’re proud to encourage small animal owners to move away from muesli. read more
