De Halve Maan is a family brewery located in the historical town center of Bruges. The company has been owned by the Maes fam ... ily for six generations. Xavier Vanneste, the current managing director, started the production of the famous Brugse Zot in 2005. The beer was an immediately success in Bruges and far beyond. In 2008 De Halve Maan also started brewing Straffe Hendrik again. Year after year, the different beers are winning several prestigious awards at the highest level. Due to the rising popularity of the beers, the brewery already needed to expand its capacity several times. In 2014 Xavier Vanneste invested in a complete new brewing house, this investment clearly shows how both innovation and tradition are important values of this town brewery. read more
